A Guide to Nature Coast Botanical Gardens in Spring Hill Florida

What is The History Behind The Nature Coast Botanical Gardens?

The Nature Coast Botanical Gardens is a non-profit botanical garden located in Spring Hill Florida.

The history of the Nature Coast Botanical Gardens begins in the 1990's. The Spring Hill Garden Club had a small piece of land close to residential area in Spring Hill Florida. As a way to nurtured plant growth in this area, selling them to local residents.

While the 4.5 acres of land off Parker Ave. in Hernando County was too small for the county's plan, the Lake House property was large enough and perfect for their needs.

The club entered into a 99-year lease agreement with the Board of Hernando County Commissioners on November 15, 1994 for 4.5 acres of land that sits on Parker Ave.

This property would be used for a plant nursery and botanical garden. A part of the land has been cleared for the plant nursery, including restrooms and a paved parking area.

This parking lot was the result of a fundraiser chaired by Gloria Nadeau and the bathroom building was built with volunteer labor and materials.
